Lessons learned from reading the Chronicles of Narnia:
to receive love from proud mice, like Aslan received that of Reepacheep,
to use the gifts of Father Christmas in their appointed time,
to explore attics (and new worlds) like Digory Kirk,
to recognize the lust and squalor of Queen Jadis in myself and others,
to love like Lucy loved,
to be humble before lions,
to shed my dragonskin, and
to respect marshwiggles.
We need to take a road trip. To Oxford. To visit his grave. What're you doing this fall?

Posted by: The one facing east at April 7, 2005 02:25 PMACtually, there's a C.S. Lewis conference at Belmont University in Nashville this November, like 3-5th or something, if y'all will be around. In which this band I know will be playing : research it: it looks pretty groovy.
I've been filling up on C.S. Lewis type good things too recently. Like his poems- and the one about "No Beauty we could desire." wow. I feel like my brain has just been washed.
Posted by: hackenstar at April 7, 2005 06:23 PMoh well anyway
I HEART JACK!
Ok, ok, one at a timeL
(1) next fall I'm settling in to life among Belgians and immigrants. I would meet you in Oxford in a HEART BEAT.
(2) nah, but I bet you could make some good poems from it. I'll see what I can do and let you know.
(3) yeah, it's a quote from that email I sent you. Aren't they great? I read them out loud to myself, sometimes.
(4) I've always wanted to go to that Belmont conference! Too bad I'll probably be out of the country. Will you go and take notes for me? Pretty please?
(5) I heart YOU, mez.
